Is it just me or does the fact that Rashida Jones only takes roles in which you find yourself questioning is she supposed to be white, slightly bothersome. I liked "I Love You Man" it was a good laugh. What I found odd was the complete absence of anything remotely ethnic when Rashida was on screen. I find myself wondering if this is a real life remake of Imitation of Life. Does anyone else feel this way or am I reaching?
I have no idea what he is saying and it really does not matter, Black face was not necessary. This is something that often strikes me as funny and perplexing when it comes to other races and ethnicities and their mocking of black skin. Obama's complexion is probably very similar to the news anchors natural complexion yet he felt the need to dramatically darken his skin to represent Blackness. In the case ofSparkle Rai a few years ago an Indian man hired a man to kill his black daughter in law. The father in law and son were multiple shades darker than Sparkle. The fact that Sparkle was black any shade of black was enough to result in a contract for her murder. That is why I think colorism is so completely useless and divisive in ethnic communities because even if you are light bright next to white you are still black as a spade to some. Simply because we carry the label of black that automactically encites fear, loathing, and caution in some. .Why? And for those with the school of thought that racism is all but dead, don't believe the hype
Rickey Smiley I think we have prime candidates in John Edwards and Andrew Young for your Paternity Test Tuesday show. I like Edwards I would have loved to have seen him as the VP with Obama, but I have a real problem with white men making a mistake and getting off with he’s human title and when the converse happens with a man of color he is portrayed as depraved and unforgivable( Jessie Jackson ). Not to mention that the white women involved are always victims and never instigators or co-conspirators in these clandestine affairs.

On a side note I wish I had friends like Andrew Young who would take the fall for my dirt, alas because I don’t that’s what keeps me from going all Jet Li on people.

The New Yorker a liberal magazine has decided to grace their cover with what we can only hope will be the future President and First Lady of the United States, to discuss the politics of fear. So what better way to demonstrate the politics of fear than to make rude and crude caricatures of every negative stereotype circling the Obamas.
So let’s lists all of the negative stereotypes:
Michelle Obama
1. Michelle with oversized lips
2. Michelle with Afro hair last time I looked she was silky fine. I am not hating on natural hair I wear my hair naturally
3. Michelle pictured as a black militant
4. Michelle with an attitude
Barack Obama
1. Let’s begin with the obvious he is wearing traditional Muslim garb
2. He is wearing sandals
3. A picture of Osama Bin Laden over the fire place
4. The American flag burning
These images should not only be offensive to Black Americans but to all Americans. This image represents and reinforces every negative image and stereotypes regarding Black Americans, Muslim Americans and how Americans view people of color.
As if there is such a thing! Besides the fact that I generally view Nader as a spoiler he presents stances on some issues that are dead on with my own. However, Nader it is past time for you to cease and desist

What, are the other two candidates sufficiently addressing the problems of the ghetto? Or should Obama take special interest above them because he is half African- American? Whatever! There has never been an overwhelming regard for the ghettos, barrios, or hick towns of America. Why because that’s not where the candidates receive their votes. Nader it is not were YOU will receive your votes. So shut it!
Talk white, eh? So all this verbiage about talking white as just a myth perpetuated by the black community has now spread and been bought by white America. When did speaking proper English become solely designated to the use of white people alone? These are the type of statements whether used by Black people or White people that reek of bigoted, prehistoric ideas that continue to plague the consciousness of American minds.
As far as White Guilt goes, I do not hold White people I encounter responsible for slavery. I hold people accountable for what they do now!
Black Entertainment Television better known as BETwas created by Bob Johnson. I don’t want to get anything twisted BET was never a paragon of intellectual stimulation however, I don’t remember its past inundated with misogynist videos, rampant foolishness, and overall stupidity. BET is no longer and probably in truth never was a channel for middle black America. The amount of irresponsible garbage that BETuses to pander to the urban youth and curious non-blacks is demeaning and disgraceful.
Reasons Why I hate BET

Donnie Simpson is no longer a VJ (yeah I know I went back for that one, but he was fine)
Because they broadcast shows like the following:
Lil Kim: Countdown to lock down (Your behind deserved to go to jail; it is time out for the no snitch policy)
Side note don’t do anything around me that you don’t want known because if the cops stop by I’m snitching on EVERYONE! Just keeping it 100.

I have heard this comment from black people (bp) and white people (wp) alike. Whenever, this statement is issued it is offensive no matter the race of the person. When a wp issues the comment they (I think) mean it as a form of flattery (as if) however, when bp issues the comment IT IS meant to question your blackness. In all fairness I have to admit that this comment is infinitely more hurtful when other bp addresses it to me. My husband for years used to say this accompanied by a headshake and additional comments such as you want to do what, you really believe that, or don’t you see. Comments like this one and others along its ilk only succeed in stereotyping or placing people in pigeon holes (which at times I am guilty of both; so please feel free to call me on it anytime).
As far as the typical black person, who is a typical black person, are they the reflection of the media or the newest rap video, or maybe a newer version of the Clare and Cliff. It is so easy for the minority to be stereotyped by the ignorant behavior of the few (which the media takes every opportunity to play up). Do bp have certain idosycnrosises that are distinct (but not exclusive) to their culture? The answer is yes, but those idiosyncrasies go well and far beyond (and often have deeper meaning) than the gold teeth, do-rag wearing people you see scattered across your local nightly news.
I know its going to be difficult to being to value people for who they are because the first thing we see is physical we don’t (and never will) see the interior of the person until we make a concerted effort to engage that person. Stereotypical comments only strain race-relations among the color lines and within color lines. People are inherently a product of their surroundings. I grew up in the country I like country things my husband grew up in da’ hood, at times (in private) he regresses. Surroundings usually will depict the behavior of people and not their race. However, their race can and usually will depict their surroundings.
