Van Jones I Miss You Already

Thank you Rippa: Mental Midgets indeed.

Republicans are running around claiming people are commies and socialists trying their best to undermine progress. I find it alarming that Republicans are resorting to the use of McCarthyism again to spread fear. Republicans have long since used this tactic to discredit progressive and liberals (there’s a difference) and to question their patriotism.

We all know that no one loves their country more than God-fearing, gun-toting, pro-life Republicans. I think it truly boggles the mind of conservatives that God-fearing and pro-choice progressive and liberals love this country as well. We differ in how we believe the country should run and function. To question whether someone loves their country because they don’t agree with your ideologue just makes you seem simple.

Van Jones announced his resignation today because the McCarthyist machine, now known as Fox News, has declared Jones to be a threat to the America Republic. I enjoyed reading Jones’s The Green Collar Economy. I thought he had some terrific ideas in how to move us into an independent nation (because you know we really aren’t if everything says made everywhere but the U.S.A.) however, his section on green jobs translating to relief from poverty in the hood rang a little hollow. I believe he saw his vision coming to fruition but alleviating the problems in inner cities across America will take more than Green production.

Maybe we are on the precipice of civil war again I think that is the direction the right is actively seeking.Well, congratulations Republicans, you are truly God’s chosen people you continue to uphold the principles of the bible such as:

Thy shall not commit murder – War in Afghanistan and Iraq
Thy shall not commit adultery – Too many to list
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

I understand why Jones resigned it’s him or healthcare reform, he understands this. Obama you had better tighten the hell up and go all out for health care because, how many sexy bald headed brothers can we afford to lose in the White House.

To Jones: please leave a sista your forwarding address.

He's a Truther. Not just a Truther, but a hard-corps Truther that has headlined at Truther rallies.

Not only that, but (and I find this hillarious) he tried to cover it up. That's epic political fail.

Bearing false witness? This man has accused thousands of his fellow countrymen of mass-murdering three thousand people on September 11, 2001. You can shove your high-horse on the "God's chosen people" crap. (And it sounds dangerously close to be anti-Semetic on top. I don't think it is, but it is poorly constructed enough to be construed that way, especially in the context of Truthers.)

Phelps, as I have never heard of the term Truther until now you will have to expalin or you can shove your "anti-Semetic" crap. Mkay!

Mexi, Whhaaaatt none of that is true?

Truthers are people who follow the general 911truth.com theory that the President and/or various levels of pretty much the entire government wired the WTC with explosives, made secret remote controlled planes to fly into the WTC, shot cruise missiles at the Pentagon, and murdered over 3000 Americans in the process. And conducted a well-orchestrated plot to cover it all up. To build a pipeline in Afghanistan.

It is a theory that, at its heart, starts with the a priori assumption that murdering thousands of his fellow countrymen to bring about a business deal that he doesn't even profit from personally is something that doesn't even give the President pause. It's a disgusting theory, and I won't abide it.

(It also assumes that the government, which can't even handle Cash for Clunkers, can somehow pull off the most intricate military operation in history. That if nothing else is patently absurd.)

Oh, and "Gods Chosen People" is generally a term for the Hebrew Tribes. Deuteronomy 14:2. It's a pretty central tenet of Trutherism that the plot was done hand in hand with Israeli Mossad so that Jewish European bankers could profit on the pipeline.

Ooookkkkkay how is Jones penchant for conspiracy theories any different than those that keep hollering for the Presidents birth certificate (even after it was reproduced several times). Are any of those nut jobs forced out of office, as far as I am concerned this comes perilously close to treason (I don’t see any Conservatives not abiding this).

This is the whole point of the post to illustrate the enormous level of hypocrisy that permeates all levels of Conservatdom. The same principles I listed liberals and progressive violate as well we just don’t go around telling people we don’t and that we are so pious therefore God must be on our side.

Nor do we use God to pray for the President to receive Brain cancer or that a storm ruins his acceptance speech during his parties nomination. The same people that were overtly critical of Rev. Wright are doing the same thing only this times its conservatives and therefore, must be sanctioned by God. Not one conservative blog I have visited has condemned these preachers who indoctrinate their congregations with such messages of hate. But every last one had something plastered all over their webpage’s against Rev. Wright. I’ll say it again, congrats, conservatives do an excellent job of upholding biblical principles.

If you are such a proponent of the Constitution Jones has a right to believe and sign and promote whatever crazy theory he wants to. Just as you have a right to disagree with him.

I know who God’s chosen people are (but thanks for the reference) if you were able to even insinuate anti-Semitism in that post then I suggest you learn to read for inference. You did most conservatives are good at doing subvert the original argument.

No one is saying that he doesn't have the right to believe any stupid thing he wants to, the issue is that his being dumb enough to support the 911 conspiracy theory is a valid reason he should be considered unfit for a public post. The Truthers are dangerously stupid, not because of their politics, but because of their reasoning skills.

Mexi, Jones was not appointed because he knew crap about terrorism. If he was you and Phelps would have a point. I was always under the impression that a dissenting opinion was the highest form of patriotism. I could care less about his opinion on the WTC bombings he was appointed for something else entirely. An opinion that you and others consider dangerous is enough to force this many into resignation from doing what he is an expert on. Seriously, you are arguing for the right for someone to be kicked out of office for an opinion that has nothing to do with their job description, for real? I’m not playing obtuse here this sounds ludicrous to me. Can you possibly think of the implications this would have on bloggers who like their anonymity? Or, the ramifications for people that dare to voice a dissenting opinion at work. For real! That’s how we do it in 09, now.

Oh I you even dare question my cognitive abilities like Phelps did with that asinine anti-Semitic comment you are going to be in for hell. I’m not going to take that crap on my own blog.

I don't think it's defensible to think that somebody being a nut is somehow a highly specialized thing that wouldn't affect other areas of his thinking. Example, if you were hiring for an important position and my resume showed that I was a member of the flat earth society, would you not think that was a valid cause for concern??? I don't think it would be realistic to say "Well clearly he doesn't understand astronomy but the field we're hiring for is in a different area so it shouldn't be an issue." Yeah right! There's a reason people leave stuff like that off a resume if they know what's good for them and then if the employer finds out anyway you move on.

I didn't question your cognitive abilities. Thinking someone is wrong is not the same as thinking they're dumb.

I dunno Mexi I work in the science field and every last one of is "off". Maybe I am used to people being strange because I can tell you from frist hand if you are not off you are not working in the science industry. Seriously, there is no way you would work in a lab if everything was right in your head.

And I didn't say that you did question my reasoning I said if you do, there would be problems.

I won't question your cognitive abilities but is it ok to refer to you as a jive turkey? Not saying I will but the situation might arise!

no and no uninstructed is fine. I know there are many things I have no knowledge of and when instruction comes with devolution of information I don’t mind being referred to as uninstructed. For example, instead of Phelps taking it straight left all he had to do was say or link what a Truther was in the first damn place. That was the first I had ever heard of the organization.

BTW WTH is with these names Birthers and Truthers whatever happend to plain ole crazy as fuck.

I hold that slang terms exist in metaphysical plane that is not subject to the caprices of online reference tools such as wikkipedia and urbandictionary.com Don't you know the internet is run by "the man" and he isn't capable of getting it, even if he tried?

(I almost just said it's a black thing & you wouldn't understand but then I remembered I'm the Mexican)

Thanks for the laugh

I will say right now that I don't support any Birthers serving in any future administration. That should disqualify you in the vetting process just like being a Truther.

The closest that I have come is to say that I wish that the courts would have allowed someone standing so that the issue could be settled instead of being thrown out every time before it started -- both to keep the legitimacy of the office intact, and to ensure that we have a method in the future. (If no one has standing to make someone show that they are qualified for office, then what's to stop Arnold from running in 2012?)

Gee, that must have been some other liberal America that Bush would choke to death on a pretzel and hoping that a hurricane hit New Orleans again to ruin the RNC convention.

Yup. And we have every right to demand that he be run out of office if the president hopes to ever have any legitimacy.

I have views that are far out of the mainstream. I also know that those views mean that I am likely to never hold a politically appointed office. That's how life works. Jones needs to man up, stop crying, take his licks, and stop begging for people to prop him up. Especially since he was the one making fun of Rumsfield (who didn't even get thrown under the bus like he did.)
