Illinois Governor Taken into Custody: What does this mean for Obama
According to the statement, Blagojevich is alleged to have discussed obtaining:
a substantial salary for himself at either a non-profit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions;
a spot for his wife on paid corporate boards, where he speculated she might garner as much as $150,000 a year;
promises of campaign funds -- including cash up front;
a Cabinet post or ambassadorship for himself.
What was he thinking?!!!
a substantial salary for himself at either a non-profit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions;
Like Bill Clinton?

That he's a Democrat?
He was a little more bold about it, but I don't see that he was looking for anything that the voters didn't just ratify.
Phelps, your response sounds like that of a sore loser. Obama has never been charged with "conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery". I do believe that there is a certain amount of corruption that comes along with politics I am still hoping that Obama really will be the change in politics this nation needs. I am anxious to see how he will respond to this.
There's no sore loser to it. This is the reality of the Democratic Party.
If BHO is smart, he remembers the lessons of Watergate. Nixon had nothing to do with the breakin -- it was the coverup afterwards that got him. I'm not convinced yet that BHO is smart.
It won't mean a thing for Obama.
I fully expect the usual morons on the right like Rush "OxyCotin" Limbaugh and white supremacist defender Sean Hannity, to masturbate over the opportunity to link Blagojevich and Obama but, the fact is, there is no relationship.
Obama isn't the Magic Negro: his reach doesn't extend to every human being on earth or in Springfield, IL. Some people behave in a criminal fashion, as did Blagojevich and Obama isn't to blame.
Unlike George W. Bush and his hand chosen, mercenary army of thugs called Blackwater. The ties between Bush and Blackwater run very deep. The Bush administration funneled Federal contracts from less than $1 million to more than $500 million to Blackwater, while employees passed through a turnstile between Blackwater and the Bush administration.
On Monday, the US Justice Department opened formal indictments against five former employees of Blackwater, charging them, among other crimes, with the manslaughter of 14 people.
Now that is corruption.
Christopher as usual you are on point.
Here is what Patrick Fitzgerald said today:
"There's no reference in the complaint to any conversations involving the president-elect or indicating that the president-elect was aware of it."
Now, I know this statement by Prosecutor Fitzgerald won't square with the fantasy lives of the PUMA lunatics and the radical, rightwingers who are praying Obama fails, but these are the facts.
I hope you are not surprised...and news is saying investigation...investigation..no someone had a mad day and told on his ***. Please believe plenty of "them" or doing it!
Go B.
I agree with A Go Bytch
Some one got mad and ratted on him. He overstepped his boundaries trying to extort the The Tribune Company. sell Obama's seat, and get his wife a job. The authorities were thinking who does this guy think he is, Bill Clinton?
Well, the indictment alleges pretty clearly that someone in the Obama camp was believed to be talking to Blago, even if it was just to say, "no way."
There's two options there -- either Obama was dealing with him in some surrogate fashion, or Obama's people are running loose with no oversight from the top. Neither one is good for Obama.
I don't think Obama was involved in the sale of the seat -- in fact, the indictment recounts Blago being pissed the BHO wouldn't offer him anything.
Instead, Obama is just like Nixon. Nixon had nothing to do with the burglary before hand -- that was his staff running around off the reservation. Nixon got done in by the coverup, and Obama is already moving in that direction. The only reason I can see for him risking that is if he thought this could cost him someone big, like Axelrod, Jarrett, or Rahm.
And Axelrod is no stranger to this sort of deal -- he openly advocated for it in an editorial.
